Colston Street, Bristol
Scope: Renovation of fire damaged building to provide 116 student bedrooms, social and study
spaces
Role: Architect / Principal Designer
Client: University of Bristol
Value: £8.0 million
33 Colston Street is a six-storey building in the centre of Bristol which suffered from a severe fire in
October 2015. The University of Bristol undertook a complete internal rebuild of the student
accommodation provision including improvements to student facilities where possible. This included
providing en-suite bathrooms throughout and a separate senior resident’s flat. Working with the end
users and student representatives, enhancements were made to shared social and study spaces on
the ground floor.
