HLN were appointed to provide design services for the new East stand and function suite development for the Newport Gwent Dragons and Newport RFC.

The new development in the existing grounds of the club involved the demolition of the existing Argus standing terrace and moving the rugby pitch approx 10m north-westwards within the existing pitch area.

The new seated covered stand accommodates 13 hospitality boxes and 2549 spectator terraced seats, associated concourse, toilet facilities, a new shop with integral ticket sales, kitchen, first aid room, cellars and storage are on the ground floor.

At first floor level along with the corporate accommodation there is a new members bar and education suite. The second floor level accommodates a television camera gantry. The new function suite on the first floor can cater for 300 seated guests whilst offering spectacular views over the rugby pitch via floor to ceiling glazing.

The project also included the re-clad of the Hazell stand to unite the architectural theme of the new development and regeneration of the grounds. Also the existing standing terrace has been up graded and formed in stepped concrete with new associated barriers replacing the original grass bank.
